According to our December 2025 study of US hotel guests:
- 84% of guests say they always or most of the time look at online reviews when researching hotels
- 50% say they always look at reviews before making a booking decision
Properties with a consistent stream of recent, credible reviews are better positioned at the moment guests are deciding where to book.
And yet, there’s a wide gap between how much guests rely on reviews — and how infrequently they actually contribute them.
The friction holding back more reviews
Delivering a great guest experience takes real effort.
But too often, those experiences never make it into the public review ecosystem that influences booking decisions.
Our research highlights that disconnect:
- While 84% of guests rely on reviews when booking
- Only 4% say they often write reviews after a hotel stay
- 52% say they never write reviews at all
- When asked why they don’t write reviews, 63% of guests indicate lack of time as the primary reason
Even guests with positive intentions often postpone writing a review because it feels like a time-consuming task that slips down the priority list.
That friction appears wherever guests are invited to leave a review, and it’s why many great experiences stop short of becoming public reviews.
How ReviewComposer removes review friction
ReviewComposer is a GuestInsight feature designed to help more happy guests follow through and post reviews, without adding work.
When a guest completes a high-scoring survey, ReviewComposer builds on the feedback they’ve already provided to generate a complete, natural-sounding review draft in their own voice.
Guests remain fully in control at every step:
- They can copy the draft as-is
- Edit it if they wish
- Or choose not to post at all
Nothing is posted automatically.
On the survey thank-you page, guests are shown:
- Their AI-assisted review draft
- Direct links to the hotel’s preferred review and social channels (i.e. Google Reviews, TripAdvisor, Facebook, and others)
This makes it easy for guests to post wherever they choose, without starting from scratch.
Where AI fits — and why guests are comfortable with it
AI is increasingly used as a writing accelerator, not a replacement for original thought. Many people already rely on it to help draft emails, summaries, and documents when the goal is saving time.
ReviewComposer applies that same principle in a focused, guest-centric way:
- AI is not used to invent sentiment
- AI is not used to rewrite guest opinions
- AI only helps structure and complete what guests have already shared
The guest’s own feedback remains the foundation. The guest remains in control at every step.

1. Identifies happy guests in-survey
GuestInsight evaluates survey responses in real time to determine which guests are most likely to leave a positive review.
2. Builds on what the guest has already shared
ReviewComposer uses the guest’s typed comments and other survey responses to assemble a review draft that accurately reflects their experience — in their own voice.
3. Guides guests to the right places to post
On the survey thank-you page, guests are presented with their AI-assisted review draft and links to the hotel’s preferred review and social channels.
Guests can copy the draft as-is, edit it if they wish, and post wherever they choose — without starting from a blank form.
